Manipulator Of Time: The Server And The Served

The air was stagnant and heavy, there was no light at all. In the unknown vastness of the dark stood a being, and before it was another that towered above the first. The smaller one stood in silence, eyes staring through the darkness to the one who had given him life, the one who was his father and Master.

He bowed his head and knelled before the towering creature, hands clasped together in a praying fashion. It was as though he was offering his worship.

"The timeline."

The smaller one mumbled softly to himself as he continued to seemingly pray to the towering figure. The rasping sound of breath could be heard; it was so loud that it was nearly deafening. And yet the smaller one still prayed, still worshiped the figure he could not possibly see, yet seemed to see nonetheless.

"Yes, I understand. The timeline must be secured for your continued glory."

He spoke to himself, even as his words were drowned out by the rasping breathing. He suddenly broke his praying stance and rose to his feet, hand held out as though to take something from the darkness. A moment later the muscles in his hand clenched as if to support something heavy, and he looked up to the towering figure, to the one who was rasping so loudly. His head moved in a nodding fashion, as if to confirm something.

"Your will shall be done, my Master. I will allow none to get in the way of your glorious plans."

The smaller figure turned and began to walk, his eyes staring ahead into the darkness. He walked with ease, as though he knew exactly where he was going even though it was pitch black. And once he reached a certain point, a disturbance came into being; a pale red light came into existence.

In a matter of moments it grew brighter, it grew larger... and then it opened; a temporal gateway. The bright, fire red color illuminated the smaller figure, it played on his features like a candle. He was Human in every physical sense; from the number of limbs down to the fine hairs on the back of his neck that stood on end as he approached the gateway which would send him through time. In his hand he carried a precious cargo, something that would alter the fate of so many.

As he stepped through the passage, the light danced across the walls of the chamber that he was once in, exposing the ragged curves and twisting contours before reaching the towering figure whom he called his Master.

Four great, green tubules and two lesser ones connected its body and armored head to the walls, two great arms stretched out while two lesser clenched the two smaller tubules that were connected to its head. Plates on its mouth and torso moved as it took in raspy breaths, and a single great eye watched the gate as it slowly began to close behind the man who did its bidding.

The Master's plan was being set into motion at the hands of the Manipulator of Time; the planet that the Master resided and fed on would be altered in ways its coming inhabitants would never realize.
