Night Before The Storm

It had been quite as of late... but, of course, that was to be expected. After all, princess Eirik, her beloved brother prince Ephraim and the small band of soldiers that they managed to scrape together were safely within the boarders of Frelia, a nation that harbored no ill will to the two children of Renais, nor those that would serve them to the death in their fight against the mighty Grado Empire.

To be more precise, they were within the walls of Frelia castle itself, the very heart and soul of the nation where Pegasi still fly freely amongst the clouds. An ancient structure like most castles, the exhausted and weary band could rest and relax, with no fear of an enemy attack. After all, between them and the enemy lie walls several feet thick with extra soldiers stationed within said walls to keep an opposing force short of a full scale invasion force sporting catapults and balista.

The hour is that of midnight, that giant, brilliant gem of a full moon sits high in the night sky, bathing everything in its glorious pale light. At this time, one might think all but the night watch would be sound asleep.. but not Eirik. Dressed for bed hours ago in a little piece of cloth that Tana, the princess of Frelia and one of her best friends tried to pass off on her as a nightgown, she wanders the halls of the massive structure, her small, bare feet barely make a sound as she trudges along.

She was in no hurry to go anywhere, she had no real set destination. As she walks along, she shivers a bit, it was a rather cold night, and castles have never been know for being able to keep out drafts. Her arms, still a tad pale and rather lacking muscle mass, even after all the long hours of combat in the sun she had faced wrapped around her small frame in a vain attempt to keep herself warm.

She'd been wandering for a good hour now, her brilliant teal eyes glazed over. One could speculate that she's suffering from trauma. Another could say she's in a state of deep thought. A third would say it was both. But, the second man would be correct. It had only been a few days since she met up with her twin brother, so long after he went off to war. She was so happy to see him, alive and well... but he seemed to hardly notice her.

Sure, there was a bit of talk... she even hugged him. But he just shrugged her off, barely giving her a hug in return before going off to speak with Seth about Renais and those soldiers that had joined up under her command. She had worried for him, some nights she literally cried herself to sleep, thinking he may just very well be dead
