Sweet Little Alouette

His eyes looked over the little thing laying there, upon the work table, she was seemingly fast asleep. A small, dirty and damaged stuffed cat style toy laid on a nearby surgical style cart, long blond hair fanned out, under her body. A long pink dress with gold trimming, a hair of boots with purple soles and a pair of white gloves were neatly folded and stacked with the toy, he'd placed them there not moments before.

She was clad only in a form fitting black body suit, which hugged her slender body, but oddly, there seem to be no redefinition. She seemingly lacked anything on her chest, or between her legs. She was a very cute little girl, with long flowing hair that went down to her waist, her eyes were a deep shade of blue, partially hidden by her bangs. She was also a very shy thing, the little stuffed cat was always clutched to her chest, its head always covering the lower portion of her pretty little face. Why, and at times she'd even lift it up even further, allowing it to hide her face completely.

That just added to her adorable nature. She was kind, gentle and sweet, seemingly conforming to the little rhyme that people often say little Human girls are made of. But, one look at her ears and you'd see that she wasn't Human at all. In the place of normal, Humanoid ears are large white hearing units, the standard issue, factor installed style placed on all Reploid's designed to have any civil functions. Some say that it's a way of marking Reploids', to let people know what they are.

Those people claim that it's just a form of discrimination, that Humanity, the majority of which having been united long ago have turned to another group for persecution. However, many are quick to point out that it's in no way illegal for a Reploid to replace their hearing units with much more Human looking ears. Of course, they conveniently forgot to mention that the only place one can generally find replacements for anything less than one who is not well off, financially --and no Reploid could ever be so well off, given all the tax laws aimed directly at them-- could afford is on the black market, and buying there is highly illegal.

He wheels in yet another cart, this one holding various pieces of equipment. While some look more like tools one would find in a garage, others range from those with the precision needed by a jeweler to Human surgical instruments

He can still remember when he found the little thing, scared out of her mind, her clothing torn up, everything about her was filthy, covered in dirt, mud and blood of Reploids, maybe even Humans. She was wandering around in some ruins outside of Neo Arcadia amongst the remains of Mechloids, her eyes seemed dead, the way she moved looked like a dog that had been beaten many times in its life. He figured she was a little Human girl, and decided to take pity on her, so he tried to talk with her, to take her home with him, since she seemed to be an orphan.

She ran from him, but she was easy to catch up with, she lacked any real speed. It took some time, but she came out of hiding, and that's when he realized that she was a Reploid, because of her ears. It was so odd to see such a thing, he'd never even heard of a female Reploid in the form of a little girl. He was courious about her, how she came to be, why she was out here, wandering around... and why she was covered in blood.

He assured her that he wouldn't hurt her, he even gave her some Energen Crystals as a sign of good faith. He offered her his hand, and she took it... then she clung to him tightly. She mumbled all kinds of things to him then, before he could even ask, saying that everybody she knew was dead, that they were all killed without mercy by Neo Arcadia, that the place she was living was reduced to rubble and ashes.

It was then that he knew what she was and why she was here... she was a Maverick, one of those Reploids that dared to stand against X and Neo Arcadia. It was amazing that she managed to survive the near utter destruction of their base and the elimination of their ranks. Even more so the fact that this was almost half a year ago... how she managed to survive without any direct access to energy was beyond him.

For a few moments, he thought of destroying her, then and there. He had a weapon on him, he could have just blown her little head off, destroying her Control Chip instantly... but then he thought better of it. She was a little girl, for God's sake, even if she was a Reploid, and a Maverick at that. Besides, how dangerous could the little thing be? She was grasping onto him for dear life, her body trembling... she was scared, filthy and hurt, far from the killing machine most Mavericks were supposed to be.

He did the only thing he could think of... he took her home with him. It was a bit of a problem explaining her to the Neo Arcadian officials at the gates, but he managed to pass her off as a Human girl through a lot of smooth talking and making sure her ears were covered. She was considered an orphan that he found outside of the city, a child from a group of people that didn't want to live in the immense city-nation and that he was going to civilize her into a productive member of society, to show her the errors of her dead parents ways.
